The modern arrangement of the bedroom requires special attention to the ceiling plane. Based on the considerations of comfort and purpose of the room, the ceiling plays the main role of decoration, since the eyes are directed at it.

The main stylistic trends of our time will help determine the method and style of the design of the ceiling.

Popular interior styles

The design of the relaxation room is always based on the personal preferences of the owner, since everyone has a different idea of comfort and location. However, there are a number of interior styles that are most often used to decorate the bedroom.

The main task is to make a comfortable and cozy place for relaxation and sleep, therefore, the French country - Provence is leading the list of popular styles. Home aura, created with the help of soft shades, eco-friendly materials and colorful textiles - defines a place to relax.

For more sophisticated motifs, classic styles are used in a lightweight design. The combination of classic style with the basics of contemporary music gives an unexpectedly beautiful and cozy bedroom interior.

Minimalism in its radical manifestation is rarely used to decorate the bedroom. More relevant is the use of the minimalism platform to create a modern and futuristic environment, more similar to the combination of modern and minimalism.

The ethnic style of any of the areas is used only by personal desire, since each of the subspecies has a personal character, charisma and a unique color structure.

All kinds of materials

The modern market of building materials is constantly being improved, offering qualitatively new options for wall, floor and ceiling cladding. To date, the best of the options are:

Stretch ceiling. The type of cladding is not equal, since it has all the positive features of other types of cladding. Stretch ceilings are decorative; easy to install and disassemble; allow you to create hinged structures indented from the ceiling for the location of wiring and masking defects; easily combined with other suspended structures

Drywall. Drywall structures are more often than other types of cladding used for the ceiling in the bedroom. The main advantage is the ability to create multi-level structures, thereby highlighting the active parts of the room. This type of cladding is also convenient for the location of communications and lighting and is easily combined and complemented by other types of finishes.

Wood. An elite finish that can be used in two forms. The first is island, for decorative purposes; the second is the main one, in the form of a natural ceiling partition with or without cladding. The island method is used to create modern elite bedroom interior styles, the main view is required for the logical completion of the "rural" interior styles.

Dyeing. A finishing method that is used both independently and in addition to drywall constructions. Painting is carried out exclusively on a level and prepared surface, and also allows you to create contrasts and highlight the main elements of the ceiling.

Wallpaper coverings. Due to its texture and decorativeness, the wallpaper creates a soft atmosphere. Most designers, choosing between wallpaper coverings and staining, prefer the former, since painted walls look “bare”, while wallpapers ennoble the space and make it home. Wallpaper can be used both for facing plasterboard structures, and as an independent coating.

The decoration of the ceiling is carried out exclusively by color tricks and lighting. Excess decoration, various curly elements are applicable only to large-sized rooms made in classic and ethnic styles. A large number of additional elements makes the ceiling too heavy for the bedroom, especially when it comes to many tiered designs.

Not recommended

Some of the finishes for the ceiling can disrupt the logical arrangement of the composition in the bedroom. When choosing a material for cladding you should avoid:

Sectional suspended ceiling. This type of finish was developed for commercial purposes and meets the requirements of an office building. Sectional division, restriction in the color range do not satisfy the basic needs of a bedroom.

Casetones. Otherwise called ceiling tiles have a very pronounced texture. Given the requirements for lighting a bedroom, shelf tiles will create shadows, distorting the look.

Plaster. Not a typical material for ceiling lining, which requires the same preparatory work as when painting. The main disadvantage is friability, which creates an undesirable volume. In rare cases, plaster is used as additional material for the ceiling lining in the bedroom.

Lighting

It is difficult to distinguish the main positions, based on which it would be possible to build a clear plan for the location of lighting in the bedroom. The ceiling part, as a rule, is reserved for the basic, the main lighting which is supplemented with the help of wall and bedside lamps.

For small bedrooms with a square up to 20 square meters, you can use one source of main lighting. In this case, a large chandelier is used to complement the style of the interior. It is worth giving preference to models with soft warm light.

Oversized bedrooms require multiple sources of basic lighting. As a rule, light sources are located as follows:

  • the part of the room where the bed is located is illuminated by a separate chandelier or a series of spotlights;
  • an additional source of central lighting is installed symmetrically relative to the chandelier: around the perimeter, on both sides or in the opposite corner of the room.

For additional lighting, LED lamps and spotlights are used.
