How to make a flower - do-it-yourself ribbon bow

Flowers have always adorned our lives; they inspire us and awaken the most beautiful feelings in our minds. And it doesn’t matter if it is alive or artificial, because they are always beautiful. And what could be better than creating such a small miracle with your own hands - neat and cute.

So, in order to make a flower - a bow from a ribbon with our own hands, we will need the following materials: a soft ribbon, a piece of cardboard, scissors and a colored bending wire.

1. Prepare cardboard

Take the cardboard and make a small cut in it. The resulting gap should be wide enough to insert the tape, but small enough to hold the tape in place.

If you use a ribbon with one side shiny and the other matte, then make sure that the shiny side is facing down, because when you make your bow, the shiny side should be outside your loops, that is, out.

2. Making loops

Start making loops. Bend the tape to make a loop on one side of the slot, and then thread the tape into the slot. When you thread the tape, twist it so that the shiny side is facing down again.

3. Adjust the length of the loops

Continue making loops so that they alternate on each side of the cardboard — one loop on one side, the second on the other, and so on. If you want your bow in the center to have smaller loops (it looks very nice), then while pulling the last loops through the cardboard, pull them a little harder, making them a little shorter.

4. Cut the tape

When you decide that your bow already has enough loops, cut the ribbon at an angle.

5. Remove the bow from cardboard

Carefully remove the bow from the cardboard. When pulling hinges out of cardboard, make sure the center of the bow is firmly sandwiched between your thumb and forefinger.

6. Fasten the bow

After removing the bow from the cardboard, take the colored wire and wrap it around the center of the bow. Tighten both ends of the wire.

7. Beat the bow

The last step is to “beat” the bow. That is, it is just necessary to correct and adjust all the loops so that the bow looks beautiful and natural.

That's done. Such decorative elements will become an elegant addition to both clothes and the interior. Many ladies can decorate their hats or just hair with such a bow. The colors and sizes of the bows depend on your preference.
