Cullets: photos in the interior, description, advantages

Fiberglass wallpaper, or as they are often called wall-paper, is a special type of wall-mounted roll cover, which is made by weaving. That is, the material is knitted using glass fibers of various thicknesses and densities, such as, for example, a woolen sweater. After the canvas is impregnated with a special composition to give a stable shape. Cullets are a new and popular finishing material that stands out from a number of other finishing materials.

Glass Benefits

  • environmental friendliness;
  • breathability;
  • hygiene;
  • fire safety;
  • strength and durability;
  • the possibility of repainting.

Let’s take a closer look ...

Uniqueness of fire gives the uniqueness to the wallpaper: they do not burn and do not support fire. This allows you to use the material not only in any living room, but also for wall decoration in places of evacuation of people in case of fire danger. Moreover, in case of fire, wallpapers do not emit harmful substances.

Cullets do not contain vinyl or other harmful substances, they consist exclusively of environmentally friendly natural components, namely clay, quartz sand, limestone and soda. After weaving, the web is treated with starch-based impregnation, which is also a natural component. Such a composition allows you to maintain a natural microclimate in any room, which is always good for the health and well-being of residents.

What else stand out cullet? Of course, this is strength. Fiberglass is considered one of the most durable materials that is used in many fields, even in aircraft construction. The material reinforces and protects the surface from various impacts and other damages. They are not afraid of either “hands”, or “legs”, or even beaks, claws and paws of other inhabitants of the house. Of course, if you try very hard and rub it with a sharp object over the surface for a long time, you can damage the material. But I repeat, I have to really try. After all, cullet is one of the most durable finishing materials known to date.

What are reinforced properties expressed in? Due to shrinkage of walls or heating, various, almost imperceptible cracks can appear in the plaster. Cullets strengthen the surface and protect it from cracks and other deformations. By the way, cullet is very durable: a service life of about 30 years. Moreover, they calmly withstand repainting in any color up to 20 times, while the relief of the picture does not change. Also, the material is easy to care for: they are washed by everyone, even by the toughest mechanical and chemical methods. Cullets are not inclined to accumulate static electricity, which means that dust will not accumulate on them. Also, the material allows you to "breathe" the wall, which prevents the appearance of fungus or mold.

The material is available in a wide variety of drawings, but the most popular are “gunny”, “rhombus” and “herringbone”. Although today it will not be difficult to find a wallpaper with an original design pattern. Wallpaper is produced in rolls, 1 meter wide, and 50 meters long.

How do cullets look in the interior?

The appearance of the material depends on many factors: applying glue (no deficiency or excess should be allowed), directly gluing fiberglass wallpaper (it is important to observe the technology of combining the pattern, joining the seams, cutting, etc.) and, of course, the right choice of paint, which should not hammer the pattern structure. In many ways, the image itself affects the appearance. When choosing, you must be guided by the following rule: for small rooms it is better to choose a wallpaper with a delicate pattern and texture.

In some buildings (especially in old ones) there is a problem of surface unification. They often carried out repairs and it is often possible to meet walls made of various materials: there is drywall, brick here or chipboard. Cullets perfectly solve this problem: after gluing, all the differences in the foundations and cracks disappear. It is still convenient to use such material as pasting cabinet doors, ordinary doors and other furniture (at the cottage).

How to choose a paint for glass? Water based paint with good wear resistance is best suited. A high level of "gloss" will help emphasize the texture of the picture.

Glass Work Rules

When working with fiberglass wallpaper, you need to follow a few simple rules. First, you need to use special glue for heavy types of wallpaper. It can be met both in finished liquid form and in powder form. Secondly, glue must be applied to the surface of the wall. If when pasting with ordinary wallpaper, it is applied to the canvas, then with glass wallpaper - not, only on the surface. After application, the material should dry for about 24 hours, while you do not need to allow direct sunlight or draft to hit the surface.

Due to the similar front and back sides, inexperienced "masters" can sometimes confuse them. Remember, the front side of the roll is always facing inward. Some manufacturers mark it with a strip of blue or gray.

After complete drying, you can start painting and decorating the surface. Here all ideas are limited only by your imagination. By the way, it is recommended to paint the surface in several layers, this will help to achieve a better result.
