Carpet in the interior - a warm and cozy atmosphere in the house

For many years, people have been using carpet to decorate and warm their homes. But if earlier only wealthy people could afford a wool or silk carpet, now the assortment of carpets is so large that it can satisfy the buyer not only with any size of wallet, but also with various stylistic, color and texture preferences.

It is obvious that any space in which the carpet was laid immediately becomes warmer and more comfortable, the interior is transformed depending on the chosen cover design. But in addition to its aesthetic properties, carpet can perform other functions - to serve as a means for soundproofing, zoning the room, creating interior accents. Besides, what could be nicer than stepping on the warm pile of a carpet with bare feet instead of stomping on a cold floor?

As a rule, a carpet is selected in an already finished room, but it happens that the design of the carpet is so unique and original that the entire interior is created in accordance with this focal center of the room.

Choosing a rug based on cost and performance

On the underside of any carpet is a marking from which you can learn not only about the composition of the pile, its characteristics, but also the substrate material and the properties of the entire coating:

  • the most affordable in price and the most popular in our country in terms of sales are floor propylene carpets. Unfortunately, the advantages come to an end at the low cost of such coatings. The disadvantages include the high electrification of the coating, poor tolerance of moisture and direct sunlight. Among other things, such carpets absorb dust very poorly and are poorly cleaned with an ordinary vacuum cleaner. Polypropylene carpets have a short life - from two to five years;
  • rugs made of durable nylon are slightly more expensive - the fleece loops of these products are attached to a synthetic base using a special latex composition. This substance adds strength and elasticity to coatings;
  • knitted coatings are next in the price range. A method of manufacturing such products involves the simultaneous weaving of pile and warp, which helps to increase the strength and flexibility of the finished carpet. Such carpets will last about ten years;
  • the most expensive, but at the same time high-quality - carpets made of wool. In addition to its environmental friendliness, carpets can boast high fire-fighting properties and a very long service life - some products can last more than fifty years.

As a rule, the coloring of a carpet of wool is carried out in a light, pastel palette. This is due to the fact that woolen products are painted much worse than synthetic ones. In addition, carpets made of wool accumulate dust very much, poorly tolerate the effects of moths and molds. To reduce the negative properties of a product made of natural material, use antistatic, anti-mole and dirt-repellent compositions.

It is considered effective to mix wool with synthetics in the ratio of 80% to 20%, this alliance helps to preserve the natural properties of natural material while increasing wear resistance and simplifying care.

Carpet for rooms for various purposes

Bedroom

One of the first decisions of a bedroom carpet, which usually comes to mind, is a light product with a long pile, which not only creates a warm and cozy atmosphere for the room for sleeping and relaxing, but also perfectly dampens the steps and creates sufficient sound insulation.

A carpet of light shade or with a diagonal pattern is able to visually expand the space of the bedroom. You can use either a large rug with a long pile over the entire room, or small fluffy bedside rugs.

Carpet with a long pile of chocolate shade, covering the entire area of the bedroom, not only provides heat to your legs, but also creates a unique interior design. Among other things, in combination with light walls and ceilings, such floors visually expand the space in height.

As a rule, in bedrooms, carpets are placed in the sleeping area so that when getting up from the bed anywhere bare feet step on a warm and pleasant rug, and not on a bare, cold floor.

A carpet with a colorful pattern will organically look in the bedroom, which was used for designing mainly monophonic types of materials for decoration and decor.

And vice versa, plain carpet is recommended for rooms with printed wall decoration. For example, if the pattern on the wallpaper is quite active, bright, then a light plain carpet will be more than appropriate.

The bedroom is the room that needs increased sound insulation and the creation of a special warm atmosphere for a quiet sleep and comfortable awakening, this is the place where we gain strength, relax and start a new, peppy day. Therefore, it is often possible to find a combination of two carpet options in bedroom interiors. For example, a carpet covering the entire area of a room is combined with small fluffy rugs placed near a bed or dressing table.

For those who are not interested in pastel colors in the decoration of the bedroom, who even need dynamism in the room for sleeping and relaxing, to feel the tone when they wake up every morning, you can try using the contrasting design of the carpet. Black and white combinations that resonated in other interior items look contrasting, bright and original for the bedroom.

Children's room

Bright carpet with a geometric pattern or images of fairy-tale, cartoon characters is perfect for a children's room. It is important that the pile pile is short - you have to clean the nursery more often, and it is more difficult to handle a long pile. Among other things, a short pile makes the carpet more resistant to abrasion.

When choosing a carpet for a children's room, it is important to take into account not only the operational properties and aesthetic side of the issue, but also to make sure that the product was stained with safe dyes - ask for a quality certificate from sales consultants.

Carpet with bright squares of different colors and textures not only looks cheerful and optimistic in the children's room, but also creates an additional base for inventing games.

Another interesting design of the rug for the nursery is the canvas with painted classics. Warm and comfortable cover with an additional opportunity for organizing games.

Living room

For the living room, there are practically no restrictions on the choice of carpet - the main thing is that, in terms of style, color and texture, the carpet is combined with the rest of the design of the room. For some homeowners, it is important that the carpet serves as a neutral backdrop for the furniture located on it and fulfill its operational functions. Others, on the contrary, believe that carpeting can become an accent in the interior, act as a focal point.

For a living room, in which, among other things, there is a kitchen and dining room, the carpet can become a zoning element, outlining the conditional boundaries of a functional segment. It is logical that in the kitchen area the flooring is covered with ceramic or stone tiles, and in the living room segment the floors are covered with a soft and warm carpet.

In the living room, made in calm, natural colors, light carpet is integrated very successfully, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere necessary for the common room.

Dark carpets need more thorough and frequent cleaning, because even the smallest debris is visible on such a surface. But the enhanced cleaning is compensated by the beautiful appearance of the dark carpet, an interesting combination with other interior items, adding some brutality to the design, despite the feeling of warmth underfoot.

Hallways, corridors and spaces near stairs

For rooms with high traffic it is recommended to purchase synthetic or semi-synthetic fabrics with a short pile. Cleaning often has to be done, and a low pile will be easier and faster to clean even with a low-power vacuum cleaner. As for color schemes, prints and ornaments - everything is limited only by your preferences and your own ideas about aesthetics. But there are unspoken rules of combinatorics - if the room is made in light, neutral colors, then a bright carpet with an ornament or pattern will look advantageous, it will become the focal center of the interior.

If in the interior of the functional space there are enough color and textured accents, then it is better to opt for carpet in neutral shades.

A carpet with a colorful pattern will fit more organically into the created interior if its colors are already used in the design of the space, for example, in the upholstery of upholstered furniture or the textile design of windows.

Shapes, sizes and design of carpets

Small rugs can add variety to the interior of any room, they can be laid next to an armchair, a bed for a child or adult, in front of a sofa or between pieces of furniture. A medium-sized carpet will organically look in small rooms, bringing warmth and comfort, uniqueness or charm, creating interesting accents.

Bright carpet products of small sizes and original shapes are able to transform the interior, bring into it not only color diversity, but also raise the overall degree of the design of the room.

A round-shaped carpet not only insulates the floors and creates a soundproof coating, but acts as a decorative object. Circles perfectly zonate the space, highlighting a particular segment around which the rest of the interior items are lined up.

In addition to differences in shape and color, carpets differ in length and density of the pile. Conventionally, all carpets can be divided into two types:

single-level - carpets with not cut loops of the same length. Such carpets look like a surface with a compact, uniform structure. The quality of such products largely depends on the equal length of the pile;

layered - loops of such products have different heights, which allows you to create three-dimensional ornaments and drawings on canvases. Attractive and extraordinary appearance, unusual structure and a high level of comfort, allow you to choose a decent option for the interior of any style.

Most manufacturers in the highly competitive field of carpet sales are trying to find new textured and color solutions, invent original methods of weaving, twisting of threads. There are canvases with curly nap, plush (velor) trimmed material. Many homeowners like the smooth loose surface of the pile, reminiscent of flowing velvet, which is so comfortable to walk with bare feet.

There are new ways to make carpets, for example, with intersecting split loop. Such innovations allow the industrial production of carpets, which only a few years ago could be made only by hand.

The unique design of the carpet, the surface of which resembles earth strewn with dry leaves, can become a highlight of the interior of any room.

Carpet as a flooring option

In Soviet times of total deficit, many of our compatriots "hunted" for carpets and at the same time, neither the composition of the coating, nor the pattern, nor the cost were important. Then the deficit disappeared, and with it the popularity of carpets began to melt, because they were replaced by a new way of decorating floors in apartments and houses - carpet. Affordable in cost, in a wide range of colors and textures, such a carpet immediately gained popularity among buyers. And to this day, many homeowners prefer to cover the floors of certain rooms of their homes with carpet.

Like any other type of flooring, carpet has its advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, you get a completely even and smooth coating that insulates your floors throughout the room, you do not have bends and edges through which you could stumble. But on the other hand, without a washing vacuum cleaner, care for such a coating is very problematic, not to mention that in rooms where there are children and pets, cleaning will have to be done daily.

The most practical version of the carpet for residential premises is a coating with a pattern and short pile. On such a canvas spots will not be noticeable so much, and a low pile will be much easier to clean.
