Many owners of indoor aloe do not even suspect that it is able to delight in flowers. The plant prefers to bloom in natural conditions, but it is very unpretentious and can take an artificial environment for a natural one. A photo of a blooming aloe in a pot on the windowsill is a convincing argument as to whether the agave blooms at home. At home, it is quite possible to enjoy its flowering. However, this will require a lot of effort.

How does flowering occur?

How often does agave bloom in nature? Twice a year: in spring and autumn. The flowering period lasts up to six months. Cases of annual flowering plants in temperate climates are practically not found. It is believed that at home, aloe is able to please with flowers every 20 years.

But if you provide quality care, it is possible earlier. Often there is only one flower and only in the axils of the upper leaves. The flowers of this culture contain a lot of nectar, so a strong smell spreads from them.

How to do it?

A plant is able to bloom only after it reaches the age of ten. To cause the blooming of adult aloe, you can use the following plan of action:

1. Starting in March, once or twice a month, feed aloe with liquid mineral fertilizers designed for succulents and cacti. Feed only in moist soil. If a special soil for succulents was used during transplantation, fertilizers can be dispensed with for 9 to 10 months.
2. In summer, take the plant to the balcony. First leave for an hour, then gradually increase the time spent in the fresh air. During hot midday hours provide diffused natural light.

   Water twice a week, allowing the topsoil to dry out (how to water aloe?). Avoid moisture on aloe. Use warm, settled water. It is better to water through the pan, then draining the remaining moisture. Or immerse the pot for 10 minutes in a bowl of water, and then let the liquid drain.

3. In September, when the evening air temperature in the street reaches + 17 ° C, return the pot with the plant to the house. Place on a well-lit windowsill. Water for irrigation in the autumn-winter season should have a temperature of 6 - 8 ° C above room temperature.
4. Organize the right wintering. Put aloe in a room with an air temperature of +10 to + 12 ° C and low humidity. A window sill above a radiator is an undesirable place for a flower.

   Additionally illuminated with fluorescent lamps. The length of daylight should be 12 to 16 hours per day. Water once a week. Prevent moisture stagnation.

5. Before starting a period of active growth, put aloe in a warm room. Under the influence of high temperatures, the plant begins to awaken. Gradually increase the frequency of watering up to two times a week. Maintain optimal lighting. It’s better not to move or rotate the pot again.

What does a flowering plant look like?
