Bathroom sink: 100+ options for comfort, ergonomics and interior beauty

Among the whole variety of bathroom sinks, it’s not so simple to choose the one that perfectly matches the size, design and fits perfectly into the overall interior. But focusing on the main aspects, you can greatly facilitate the task.

The assortment presented in specialized stores and supermarkets is approximately the same. Everyone can choose both a popular model and a more original product. But first of all, you need to focus on the practicality, functionality, reliability and appropriateness of the design in the interior of your bathroom.

Tulip

The model, of course, is aesthetic, but not in every bathroom. The leg of the sink interferes with the ergonomics of space. The place under the wash basin is not functional, which is bad for small bathtubs. Consequently, the tulip sink is an option for a spacious, free room.

Hanging bathroom sinks

A universal option for placing a bathroom of any size. The main advantage of such a sink is the large free volume under it. Flat models allow you to install a washing machine under them, which is very practical for a small bathroom.

Corner Sinks

Corner models are wall and built-in, suitable for rooms of any size. In the combined bathroom will help to save free space.

Overhead sinks for the bathroom

Very popular model. Among the varieties there are built-in countertops (or other furniture) and options with a pedestal. Not the best option for a small bathroom, but in a spacious room it looks very aesthetically and functionally. The tables themselves are available with two or one door or are made in the form of a chest of drawers.

Porcelain or earthenware sinks - are highly durable, immune to scratches and rust. The ceramic surface is smooth, does not trap dirt. Such sinks are easy to clean and easy to clean. Among the disadvantages are high weight and low impact resistance.

Steel or cast iron - do not rust and tolerate high temperatures well. But over time, the enamel breaks off, which significantly spoils the appearance of the product.

Glass models - look very elegant and stylish in suspension. The only minus is fragility, so they will not be entirely appropriate for a house where there are small children.

Stone sinks (natural or artificial) - an option for an elite luxurious interior. Stone products have high performance - durable, not afraid of mechanical and chemical damage. The disadvantage is the high price and porosity, therefore, such a sink must be carefully looked after.

In the shape of the shell are:

  • square;
  • round;
  • rectangular;
  • oval;
  • triangular (for angular placement).

The choice depends on the size of the room and the style of the interior. In a small bathroom, a compact, round, round sink placed on a countertop looks great. Square and rectangular organic as embedded in the cabinet.

Traditionally plumbing equipment in white. There are also various shades - from snow-white with a soft blue tint to milky. But modern manufacturers take into account different tastes and produce unique creative models with different color schemes. When choosing an original sink with an unusual color design, remember that it should be in harmony with the walls, the rest of the furniture, bathroom fixtures and fit perfectly into the overall style.

Proper organization of the bathroom space gives freedom of movement and convenience in everything. This can be achieved by accurate calculations of the size of the installed plumbing. The maximum width of the sink is 90 cm, the minimum is 25. And here it is clear that for a small bathroom it’s worth choosing a sink of 25-40 cm. In a bathroom in the Khrushchev’s square, which is square meters close to the hall, a more voluminous sink would be appropriate 75-90 cm. It is very important to choose the right size and shape in the combined bathroom.

Obviously, the modern manufacturer has provided us with a large assortment of sinks, but how good the choice will be depends on how seriously and carefully you approach the issue - take into account all the needs and nuances. Here are some rules to help you make the best decision:

  • all plumbing, including the sink, must be selected in the same style according to the materials and colors;
  • the shape of the sink model should be in harmony with the overall style of the bathroom;
  • pay attention to the mixer - is there a hole in the sink for it, or will you have to mount the mixer to the wall;
  • if finances allow and have your own vision of the design of the sink and other elements of plumbing, order an individual project.

As such, the standard in determining the optimal height of the sink in the bathroom does not exist. Suppose the underframe is set at a comfortable height of about 90 cm, but the sink itself is not immersed in it, but rises like a bowl. If the sink is with high edges, you will have to constantly raise your hands. The optimum height is determined based on the level of the edge of the washbasin itself, but not on the installation of the underframe. The underframe in this case is better to set 15 cm below the expected level.

Tip: pick up the overhead sink at the same time as the cabinet, measure the total height and only then determine the level of installation of the product.

It would seem that there is no problem buying and hanging the sink higher or lower already in place. But it is important to determine in advance the height of all components, that is, even before laying the mosaic or tile. If decorative strips of a border are planned, they should coincide with the edge level of the underframe and in no case should be higher or lower. This greatly spoils the impression.
