For some, morning is just the beginning of the day, and for someone, a whole ritual: pleasant sips, a five-minute charge and a cup of aromatic coffee. But sometimes, one wants to lie in a cozy warm bed for longer, just to dream, to collect thoughts, to put everything on the shelves and have breakfast here. And here the breakfast table in bed will be very handy, which will add ease and more comfort to the morning meal.

A bedside table is a universal thing. It is indispensable when caring for sick people with reduced mobility. And recently, a kind of symbiosis has become very popular, two in one - the combination of a bedside table and a table-stand for a laptop.

Design features

The device of the bedside table is quite simple - legs and a tabletop with sides, but even here it is worth noting some features:

Countertops - This is really an object for creative imagination of designers. They can be made of ordinary plywood, or with a chic relief pattern, mosaic panels or made of tinted glass or natural / artificial leather. For practicality, individual manufacturers produce such tables complete with plastic mats to protect the countertop from damage and high temperatures.

Legs - are folding or motionless. Foldable make the table more mobile and versatile, making it easy to fold into a tray. But the options with fixed legs are much more stable, which is important for a non-smooth surface of the bed. Moreover, there are tables with height-adjustable legs.

Beads - high enough to prevent the dishes from falling off the countertop. And if something spills suddenly, the sides will hold the liquid.

It’s good if the bedside table has handles, which is very convenient for carrying.

In the stand table, the design of the countertop consists of two parts - one fixed (often with a special recess for the cup), the second - with an adjustable level of inclination.

Breakfast table in bed: varieties of materials

The traditional materials in the manufacture of bedside tables are various tree species: ash, pine, oak, maple and more expensive - cedar, mahogany. Such a surface is specially treated so that it can be easily washed, while moisture and odors are not absorbed. Ideally, if the countertop is covered with a special heat-resistant varnish, so that plates and cups with hot do not leave traces on it. On the one hand, such tables may seem quite uncomfortable due to their heavy weight and massiveness, but on the other hand, this adds to their reliability and stability.

On a note: quite popular tables for breakfast made of hevea (a rubber tree native to Africa). High-quality wood, even without additional varnish coating, is resistant to temperature extremes and spilled liquids. Such models are lightweight and high strength.

However, today there are many other materials that are used in the production of bedside tables:

bamboo - Differs in ease and special refinement of material in a finished product. Bamboo can be both the whole table, and only the tabletop itself. Light shades of bamboo are perfect for different stylistic trends, but most importantly - without this material it is impossible to imagine an oriental style, especially Japanese. The bamboo table can be complemented with cute straw rugs.

metal - as a rule, these are chrome plated tables or powder coated with a spray paint, which does not scratch or scrape off. Basically, metal models are laptop stand tables. Such tables have a fairly loyal price range, due to the simplicity of manufacture and design, as well as inexpensive material.

glass - used for countertops, which can be tinted, transparent or colored. Such countertops do not scratch, retain their attractive appearance for a long time and, importantly, are hygienic, as they are easy to clean.

plastic - lightweight universal material, convenient for the manufacture of tables in an unusual design. Another plus is the wide color palette.

Design

The design of breakfast tables in bed depends on the preferences of the owners, as well as the stylistic direction of the bedroom, where the table will actually “serve”:

noble classic - a laconic, slightly massive table made of oak or pine; colors closer to natural, most often chocolate, saturated brown; minimum decorations, only the sides can be curly or carved.

minimalism - lack of decorative details, countertop - wooden or glass; except that the straightness and severity of the lines can be diluted with a graceful bend of the legs or interesting unusual crossbars.

french provence - light shades and maple tree; the drawing on the countertop is made using decoupage technique; sides - in a rustic style, somewhat rough, imitate unprocessed wood.

Versatility and use cases

A mini breakfast table is a rather practical, universal thing that can be used not only in the bedroom:

picnic table - A great option for outdoor recreation, cottage, due to its compact size, light weight and folding legs. It is worth remembering how many inconveniences and time costs the search for a flat surface gives you so that disposable plastic cups do not tip over. It is comfortable to cook and serve treats on a flat, stable table surface.

household table - solves the dilemma when you need to urgently cook something, but you don’t want to miss the interesting plot of the film or your favorite TV show. Now sitting on the couch and setting the table on your knees, you can at least do the preparatory work, for example, peel and chop the vegetables.

table as stand for board games - Another great idea for its application. Now you can play with your child without getting out of bed, as well as collect exciting puzzles - thanks to the fairly high sides, no component of the picture will be lost.
