Idea for home creativity: a shelf made of boards and leather straps

What do you think most attracts our attention when we first find ourselves in an unfamiliar apartment? Perhaps someone will find it difficult to answer. However, many will agree that these are, first of all, unusual gizmos, as well as home-made decor items. Such things are still in price and are able to surprise us with their unusualness.

Today we will manufacture fancy and original shelves. To do this, we need the simplest materials:

1. any leather belts (in the amount of 2 or 4 depending on their length and shelf design);
2. two wooden boards;
3. hammer;
4. nails
5. ruler;
6. a simple pencil.

Such a shelf will be a useful complement to the interior of any room, especially the kitchen, bathroom and loggia. This accessory, in addition to performing a decorative function, will make it possible to place a bunch of useful objects that could not find a suitable place in the room - dishes, books, various memorable trinkets and small indoor plants.

What is a good shelf of belts and boards?

1. The cost of materials for its manufacture is low.
2. Make it under the strength of everyone.
3. The finished product will have a unique design.

So, we will begin to implement our idea.

Take wooden planks suitable for making shelves. If the tree has a completely unsightly appearance, you can "ennoble" it with the help of varnish. To do this, stock up on a can of varnish, a brush and a stain in advance. Do not forget to pre-process the wooden base with sandpaper. Using a pencil and a ruler, mark 5 cm on each side of the board.

The style of the finished product will depend on which particular leather belts were chosen for its manufacture. For leather belts that have already served you pretty well, old boards will work well. And with the new leather accessories of various colors, bright shelves made and painted recently will look great.

Having fastened the belts, we will make sure that they are the same length. If this is not so, you can use two belts on each side of the shelf. To do this, you need to hook them together. You may need to punch a few extra holes with an awl. Fastened belts should be approximately 1.5 meters in diameter.

Insert the edges of the lower shelf into the circles formed by the belts at the previously marked distance. Then flip the board to one side so that you can adjust the length. Take care in advance of the position of the buckles on the belts - you need to install them where they will be most appropriate.

After adjusting the position of the belts, we fix one of them so that it does not move. After that, turn the bottom surface of the board up and drive 3 nails into the leather belt along the marked line, i.e. at a distance of 5 cm.

After that, you can nail the belt to the side of the shelf.

We fix and beat the second board above the bottom, rising by 20-35 cm. The leather belts should pass through the marking lines.

It remains only to fix the belts on the back of the shelf.

Once again, check the length of the belts in the upper part of the shelf - they should be the same on both sides.

We have almost reached the desired result. It remains only to hang the finished decorative product on the wall.

Perhaps your imagination is not limited to the manufacture of this simple model. In this case, you can use three shelves instead of two. The texture and color of the boards can be very diverse. And if you make several such original accessories, you will get a kind of ensemble of decorative shelves.
