Tropical style in the apartment

The tropical style of interior decoration is most often used in southern hotels and salons offering SPA-procedures. But if you come home and want to immerse yourself in the relaxing world of the tropics and feel for a moment the salt spray of the ocean, then feel free to create such an interior. Where to start building a tropical style in the apartment?

Let's start with the coloring of the room. In order to create a world of tropics in the house, you must carefully select the colors for the interior. Warm, not intrusive colors: blue, orange, yellow or green will best cope with this task. Natural wood is also welcome.

Tropical style begins with furniture

Wicker furniture made of bamboo, rattan or willow will be a great addition to the tropical style. She gives the room coziness and peace. And you should not be limited only to chairs, because there can be wicker tables, sofas, chests of drawers and dining tables. In addition to wicker, you can use rough wooden or bamboo furniture, which has the appearance of a rough craft created from improvised materials. Upholstered furniture uses both leather and fabric upholstery, but it should be plain and soft. But bulky cabinets are completely unnecessary, because they will bring dissonance and will seem superfluous on a tropical island, so they need to be hidden in the wall and covered with a wicker screen. The main accent in the bedroom is a wide comfortable bed under a canopy made of transparent fabric, which creates the illusion of a mosquito net.

Finishing and arrangement

The tropical style floor is most often made of terracotta tiles, rough wooden boards or carpet in the form of a mat. Be sure to decorate the middle of the room with a carpet, rectangular or round. For walls, you need to use calm warm colors without textures and drawings, and this can be both paint and wallpaper. To create a tropical setting, you can attach vinyl stickers in the form of palm trees, parrots and monkeys to the wall. The ceiling must be left white, or several wooden planks should be laid to create the effect of ceiling beams.

An integral feature for a tropical-style interior is pebbles. It can be used as decoration for walls in the bathroom or kitchen, poured into flower pots or an aquarium, put as a floor covering in the living room.

Textiles and Accessories

Curtains in the interior, transferring your apartment to the tropics, should be plain and long, without lambrequins. For windows in the bedroom and living room, you can use Roman curtains, light tulle or wooden blinds. You can also drape doorways, walls, and even the ceiling.

Do not forget about plants, since these are tropics, there should be a lot of them. To decorate the walls, you can use panels woven or woven from bright threads, fruit baskets, openwork screens, palm leaves or bead curtains. Do not forget about a living parrot or aquarium with bright tropical fish. The tropical style in the apartment creates a festive and summer mood even in the harshest winter.
