The best solution for the bedroom is a modern bed, which does not violate the general concept, while ensuring a complete sleep. In this stylistic movement, the emphasis is on elegance, respectability, which are organically complemented by a rich, sophisticated decor.

Differences in style and its advantages

Art Nouveau requires a lot of space - it needs large rooms and high ceilings. For the decoration of the premises, natural materials, natural colors and plant motifs are used. The atmosphere is dominated by flowing lines, rounded shapes. The design is characterized by the absence of symmetry and strict geometry, the lines balance, intertwine and gently flow into one another. Mandatory detail of the interior are stained-glass windows, which may be present in windows, doorways or on the ceiling.

Characteristic features of the style:

  • natural materials;
  • clear predominance of wood;
  • natural colors;
  • soft palette;
  • smooth lines;
  • rounded shapes;
  • stained glass;
  • open space;
  • no frills.

When choosing furniture, they are guided by its functional purpose, unnecessary objects cluttering up free space are not allowed. For each room, the optimal number of elements is selected taking into account its purpose. The furniture case is made of wood; for upholstery, textiles or leather are used. Among the upholstered furniture manufacturers offer, products with rounded backs and armrests, curved legs, discreet upholstery in muted pastel colors with floral motifs are suitable.

The main material is wood. Frames, doors, wall panels, and lighting components are made from it. In the classic version, the floor should also be made of natural wood-parquet or boards, but today it is allowed to use a laminate, ceramic tile. Surfaces are decorated in neutral colors and are a frame for the interior decoration of the room. For their decoration materials are used without gloss, textured pattern in light shades: gray, beige, cream, golden, pearl, milk. At the same time, special attention is paid to the ceiling - it is richly decorated with stucco moldings and wooden elements. The walls can be plain or with a floral ornament, containing the image of flowers, petals, interwoven stems, butterflies, dragonflies, smooth abstraction. For the manufacture of stair railings, art forging is often used.

When creating the design of the room, furniture, decoration materials, textiles, decor elements are selected very carefully so that together they create a single composition in shape and color, and do not look like a set of disparate elements.

Art Nouveau allows you to create elegant interiors, designed in a soft calm tone. They do not overload the space, create a comfortable atmosphere for relaxation. At the same time, no one can call them boring, because bright stained-glass windows, skillfully selected elements of decor add variety and also decorate the interior. Art Nouveau style is considered the choice of gourmets and creative natures who value conciseness. They draw their inspiration from nature itself, which captivates them with its original beauty, natural forms and colors. At the same time, one should not forget that the use of natural materials and fabrics, precious wood, copyright stained-glass windows and artistic forging in the interior requires considerable financial investments.

Used forms

In Art Nouveau, much attention is paid to comfort. Correct geometry, strict symmetry, is alien to him. The color scheme, materials, ornaments, forms of this style are taken from nature, the naturalness of which cannot be measured with a ruler. Correctly selected furniture in the Art Nouveau style is convenient, comfortable, with smooth outlines, a sofa or bed is alluring to lie down and relax. Upholstered furniture has streamlined silhouettes, rounded backs and armrests, the most common are oval or rectangular shapes. Cabinet furniture items are functional, concise, without unnecessary decor. They have a predominantly rectangular shape, where the height exceeds the width. The main decoration is the natural texture of the tree, which is never painted, but only varnished. For Art Nouveau, the dominant is characteristic in the vertical direction, so the openings have an elongated shape. They often meet an oval upper tier, for the glazing of which a stained-glass window is used.

The main criteria for modern style furniture:

  • natural materials;
  • natural colors;
  • simple form;
  • functionality;
  • convenience;
  • lack of decor.

The main emphasis in the bedroom will be the Art Nouveau bed, which can be supplemented by a pair of bedside tables and an ottoman. The classic option is the model with wooden backs or forging on the head, which look strict and elegant. A characteristic feature is the simple form, the absence of deliberate splendor. The design of the beds uses natural materials, smooth surfaces, laconic design. Many products are equipped with a lifting mechanism, as well as a spacious niche. For storing things, a sliding wardrobe is best suited, the doors of which can be made of glass, decorated with a pattern or imitation of a stained-glass window. Accessories and textiles should be in tune with the tone of the walls.

The Art Nouveau bedroom is a spacious room with a set of necessary furniture, designed in the spirit of minimalism.

The color scheme in the interior

Preference is given to natural, close to nature colors, the basis of which are white, black, brown, green, yellow. But since the Art Nouveau interior promotes comfort, soft "blurry" shades are used as the main tonality, creating a soft palette - gray, pearl, milk, caramel, beige, sand, cream, olive, brick, golden, peach. This tonality does not irritate the eyes, does not excite the psyche, creating an atmosphere that is most conducive to relaxation.

When choosing a color for interior decoration, a stylistic tendency also plays a role, in which the walls and ceiling play the role of a background for furniture, accessories, and bright stained-glass windows. It is allowed to use bright colors - red, yellow, blue, violet, but not as a repeating motive, but as individual intersperses. For example, in textiles or decor elements. It is advisable to use floral and floral motifs during the design.

When creating the interior, a leading color is necessarily chosen, around which additional color filling is formed.

Decor and bedding

Art Nouveau decor is given a lot of attention, because it is he who enlivens and decorates the premises. Glass, wood, wrought iron items are welcome. Lighting devices are selected in their original form, with expert decoration. Given the naturalness as well as the naturalness of style, floral design is widely used in decoration. A prerequisite is compliance with a single color scheme. When reproducing the classic version of Art Nouveau, one cannot do without paintings corresponding to the manner of modernist artists. Decor elements should be made of natural materials, have a rich look.

The main decor items:

  • glass and crystal vases;
  • wooden figurines;
  • figurines and caskets;
  • china;
  • wooden clock;
  • bronze candelabra, candlesticks;
  • a panel with plots of nature;
  • pictures.

When decorating rooms, textile products are used in limited quantities, and are used strictly for their intended purpose - these are curtains, furniture upholstery, sofa pillows. For the bedroom, this list is complemented by a bedspread and bed linen. Curtains can be different - from straight-up gathered canvases to complex compositions with pickups, asymmetric lambrequins and draperies. When choosing material for curtains, preference is given to heavy fabrics - velvet, silk and satin. The most common is the window decoration option, presented by two generously draped curtains and a thin translucent curtain. Fabrics are selected in neutral colors, corresponding to the general color scheme of the room, discreet floral ornament is allowed. Art Nouveau does not accept bright, flashy curtains, large prints. They should harmoniously fit into the interior, and not become its accent.

For bedroom windows, choose a thin tulle of white, milky or pearl color and darker dense curtains, draped in soft waves. The bed is decorated carefully and richly, as it is the main element of the room. It must necessarily have a blanket of simple shape, without ruffles, frills, and pillows, on the pillowcases of which there may be applique or embroidery. In Art Nouveau, special attention is paid to the quality of materials, so preference is given to expensive fabrics with a glossy texture that reflects light well - brocade, silk, satin. Combination of fabrics of two types is allowed, one of which may have a floral ornament.

Bed linen can be monophonic, neutral shades or color. When choosing a print, you can go along the beaten track and choose winding waves or floral ornaments. For example, when decorating the premises at the end of the 19th century, lilies and irises were very popular. And you can choose bright sets of bed linen with an abstract ornament, bold combinations. It can be fuzzy drawings or blurry spots that mimic the paintings of avant-garde artists.

The Art Nouveau interior is a harmonious combination of practicality, comfort and luxury. It is characterized by a calm color scheme, smooth lines, natural materials, rich decor. The design is dominated by natural naturalness, a sense of proportion. The concept of the room is an organic, integral picture, in which every little thing is thought out and there is not a single superfluous detail.
