For many years, nature and man have been trying to perfect the rose. The Queen of Flowers is immortalized in legends, poems, fairy tales and songs. Petals of a modern garden rose are decorated with various shades: blue, violet, black and even green.

Bushes with buds of such non-standard colors are decorated today with flower beds, flower beds and front gardens, some of the varieties collect chic wedding bouquets. In this article, we consider varieties of green roses with their description, as well as the history of their appearance.

Reality or fiction?

Green roses today is reality. There are not so many rose bushes with buds of green tint, and some people are not even aware of their existence. Green roses are beautiful and original, and become a true decoration of any flower garden. However, green beauties practically do not exude the usual light aroma inherent in other varieties of this royal flower.

Appearance story

The first rose with green buds was bred by the Dutch botanist Mayer in 1782 during one experiment. The breeder conducted one experiment, during which a petal of a white shade rose grafted a wild blackthorn to a stump. After a while, a bud blossomed on the bush with pale green petals, but without the usual aroma. Such an event in the history of selection became a real sensation and broke all stereotypes about what color a rose should be.

Hybrid Tea

This group of roses was allocated in a separate class in 1976. The basis was taken the La France rose, bred by crossing the repair and tea roses. Hybrid tea varieties are ideal for decorating flower beds, flower beds, garden plots. This is one of the most popular groups among green roses. The main difference between tea-hybrid roses is that they bloom continuously throughout the summer.

Climbers belong to the group of climbing roses. They were obtained by crossing winding varieties with hybrid tea, remodeling and tea roses, as well as with some varieties of roses from the class of floribunda. Climbers are used as decorations for gazebos, house facades, balconies, fences. Climbers have elongated branches - from one and a half to five meters, which grow very quickly.

Climbers buds bloom in flowers with a diameter of more than 4 cm, which are collected in thick openwork inflorescences. Roses of this group bloom twice a season. In its structure, the kraimber bud is similar to tea-hybrid varieties.

Miniature

In 1810, samples of miniature roses were first brought to Europe from China. Much later, thanks to the efforts of breeders from Spain, Holland and America, a large variety of varieties of these little roses was bred. Miniature roses are great for decorating borders, flower beds, rose gardens. Also widely used for decorating balconies, for growing in containers and at home in pots. They are often used for vaccination on boles and also used as buttonholes.

Floribunda

Floribunda roses were bred by crossing hybrid tea, nutmeg and polyanthus roses. The name floribunda means abundantly flowering. This is a beautiful, long-flowering plant, resistant to colds and diseases. This class is very unpretentious and decorative, has large inflorescences. Roses of floribunda have a continuous flowering period.

American breeding

Roses of American selection have much in common with tea hybrid. American breeders in the work on the group used modern and old varieties of garden roses. This group of roses is very hardy and different:

4. stamina to diseases and pests;
5. long and stormy flowering.

Use in landscape design

When planting green roses on flower beds, experts recommend paying attention not only to the combination of colors, but also to the botanical compatibility of the plants grown.

Do not plant green roses next to gladioli and dahlias, as these cultures can oppress each other!

When designing flower beds and rose gardens, landscape designers often use Green Ice roses. A sprawling and branched plant of a light green color does not grow more than half a meter, both in width and in height. This bush is very compact and ideal for decorating the front edge of the curb and looks beautifully planted along garden paths.

Important! In order to maximally stimulate the re-blooming of a green rose, it is necessary to immediately pick off the faded buds.

Roses of a green hue look very beautiful on one flower bed next to viola, lobelia, brachycoma, low cloves, bright blue fern, verbena, geranium "ballerina". When decorating a flower bed or flower bed next to a pink green bush, landscape designers recommend planting an evergreen prickly island strewn with red berries. Paired with a rose of unusual color, they look very decorative.

The space between the green shades of pink bushes can be filled with plants such as:

Do not refuse to grow the queen of flowers of an unusual shade because of her capricious disposition and sensitivity to ambient temperature.

With the right selection and care, the rose bush will certainly grow and delight the owner with rapid and long flowering. Despite the fact that roses of green shades practically do not exude aroma, they will certainly attract the attention of others and decorate any flowerbed or garden plot.
