Tips for gardeners - what is needed in order to plant a money tree and how to do it right?

Crassula (Crassula, money tree) - succulent, which can reproduce in three ways: cuttings, leaf, seeds.

Vegetative propagation methods (cuttings and leaves) are most popular among gardeners, but it is difficult to reproduce seeds at home. If, however, the florist ventured to take such a step and waited for the seedlings to appear, the material in this article will be extremely useful to him.

Why and when do you need to plant a fat woman?

Sowing the seeds of the Crassulaceae, as a rule, is carried out in malnourishing, but loose soil (a mixture of sand and peat) to facilitate the process of seed germination. Seeds are sown densely and densely, with the expectation that not all of them will sprout. Therefore, seedlings appear weak, almost non-viable. They can be saved by seating in individual pots.

Planting seedlings of plants from common dishes into individual containers is traditionally called diving. In this case, the final part of the core root is necessarily removed during this planting. This is done in order to stimulate branching of the root system.

Thus, in order for each seedling to have the necessary nutritional area, a developed root system that can provide the plant with nutrients from the soil, it is necessary to carry out their planting (picking).

Diving is carried out in several stages. For the first time, seedlings are made two weeks after the appearance of the first shoots, after two cotyledon leaves are clearly visible. The second dive - as soon as the seedlings reach a length of 6 - 7 cm and they will have 2 - 4 real leaves.

What is needed for this?

• Pointy peg. In order not to damage the fragile root system of seedlings during transplanting, it is necessary to use a special device - a pike - a pointed peg. If there is no such device, then it can easily be replaced with improvised means: a wooden stick for sushi, a wooden knitting needle, a skewer, a pencil.
• Priming. For the first dive of seedlings of rosula, experienced gardeners recommend preparing a soil mixture of sod, leaf soil and sand in a ratio of 1: 2: 1. For seating in individual pots, you can buy soil for cacti in a specialized flower shop, or you can use the same mixture, but already in a ratio of 1 equal part of sod, leaf soil and coarse sand.

  The soil into which the pick will be made must be well moistened.

• Capacity. The first seedlings can be made in one common container (as seedlings are easier to tolerate picking), the second - already in individual pots. The recommended diameter is 7 - 10 cm. If such pots were not purchased at the store, then you can use plastic containers for yogurt or sour cream, but do not forget that you must make a drainage hole in them to drain excess water.

When diving seedlings, it is necessary to immediately remove weak, thin, yellowed seedlings.

How to carry out the procedure?

Step-by-step instruction:

1. Pour a container with seedlings with plenty of water and leave for 2 to 3 hours.
2. Separate the seedling with a stick.
3. Take it out of the soil, while holding the plant you need for an earthen lump or cotyledon leaves, but not for the stem, since it is very fragile.
4. Split off the lower part of the central rhizome, leaving 2/3 of the whole root.
5. The bottom of the tank into which planting will be carried out must be covered with a layer of drainage (expanded clay, pebbles, small pebbles, broken brick).
6. Make a small depression in the container where the plant will be transplanted, deepen it to the point of growth. If the seedlings will be planted at the first dive into a common box, then the distance between them should be at least 1 cm.
7. Sprinkle the seedling with soil, pressing it lightly for better fixation.
8. Put in bright places, but without direct sunlight.
9. The first few days, succulent seedlings should not be watered, but it is necessary to ensure sufficient humidity. This can be achieved by daily irrigation of the space around the seedlings from a spray bottle with a small spray. Then gradually begin to pour with settled water.
10. Make sure that the thermometer column in the room where the money tree seedlings are located is kept at + 16C - + 18C.
11. Top dressing with special fertilizers from the store should be done only 6 to 8 days after the pick, after watering the young fat girl.The second top dressing is done no earlier than two weeks after the first.

Possible content difficulties

• Seedling development has stopped. It is necessary to check whether the deepening was carried out correctly: the growth point should be above the soil surface, and not below it.
• Seedlings began to wilt. You need to make sure that direct sunlight does not fall on young plants. If yes, then the container must be moved to another place.
• Seedlings infected with rot or fungal diseases. To prevent this phenomenon, the roots of seedlings must be disinfected in a weak solution of potassium permanganate (1 g per 1 liter of water).
• Brown spots appear on the seedlings or the seedlings are excessively stretched.. This indicates excessive wetting of the substrate in a pot with rosula.

This plant is a succulent, that is, a cactus that does not accept the abundance of moisture.

The soil should be constantly moistened during the germination period, but not after replanting in individual pots.

Care after planting is carried out as well as for an adult plant: watering is carried out as the top layer of soil dries.

Growing a fat woman from seeds is a rather troublesome and laborious task.. But the reward for the grower will be a sufficient number of new young plants that can decorate any, even the most exotic, interior or landscape design.
