Masterpieces of selection by Evgeny Arkhipov: violets "Egorka-Molodets", "Aquarius" and other varieties. Detailed descriptions and photos

Over the past few years, the varieties of the Russian breeder Yevgeny Arkhipov have attracted special attention at the exhibitions of the SaintPolis.

Its flowers attract attention with special extraordinary beauty. Mysterious, full of mysterious power, it is impossible to look away from them.

The violets themselves convey very well the creative character of the breeder himself. Therefore, it is not surprising that Eugene, a biologist by training, is especially careful in creating his own violets.

Breeder Evgeny Arkhipov: a brief reference

He began his career as a breeder in 1999. Already this year, pollination occurred, the result of which was the emergence of new species:

  • "Sea Myth."
  • "Charming."
  • "Evening Stars."

The breeder himself considers these varieties to be a strategic mistake, since these varieties had simple non-double flowers in the shape of a star or fantasy anniversaries, although they had good data on the quality of peduncles and the abundance of flowering.

Since 2006, a qualitative breakthrough has occurred - varieties with a unique color have appearedwho still have no analogues. For example:

  • "Armageddon".
  • Vesuvius Elite.
  • "Sagittarius of the Elite."
  • Cupid and so on.

Full descriptions of the most common varieties

"Egorka well done"

The variety was bred in 2013. Very beautiful violet, which has the standard size for senpolia. It has white semi-double stars with prints of dark purple on the petals with white and pink peas on them. It has a wavy edge at the petals, as well as light green foliage. There is a possibility of planting in ceramic pots.

REFERENCE! Experienced breeders advise to completely avoid plastic pots.

The variety itself loves natural lighting, so the brightness of the Saintpaulia depends on its brightness. Also, the flowers do not fade.

It is most preferable to place at the western and eastern windows with shading from direct sunlight. On the southern windows they need more shading. On the northern windows, it is recommended that the autumn-winter period be illuminated with special phytolamps or fluorescent lamps.
In the autumn-winter period, the temperature in the room should not fall below 18 degrees Celsius in order to avoid hypothermia of the root system. In plastic pots, it is necessary to monitor the humidity, allowing it to dry to avoid gulf and, as a result, the occurrence of fungal diseases and death of the plant. Watering is carried out in the pan or along the edge of the pot.

"Aquarius"

The variety was bred in 2012. Very large, rounded, wide open flowers - "saucers" of blue-blue color with purple tint; contrasting white and pink peas are scattered across the background of the petals. Bright green foliage with short petioles.

Like Yegorka is heat-loving, so the conditions when placed in the room are exactly the same. Watering is done only through the pan. It’s worth planting only in ceramic pots, since plastic ones are not suitable for this variety, and a flower is likely to die from such a pot. Fertilizer should be added in warm water through a pallet.
Aquarius this violet was named not only because of the color of the petals, but also for the love of water. Violets themselves do not like when their leaves get wet during watering, but this violet does not apply to them, but rather, as Egor becomes brighter from the amount of sunlight, so Aquarius acquires a bright color with good moisture.

IMPORTANT! Despite the love of moisture, do not fill the plant. This can cause root rot.

Flowers can reach sizes up to 6 cm. It has standard sizes. The flowers are arranged tightly.

Distinctive features

The main feature is the universal love for the varieties of Eugene Arkhipov. His senpolis became regular guests of American exhibitions. Here are some examples:

  • At the 2013 exhibition under the name "AVSA" violet "Pearl Stars", which was grown by C. Thompson, was recognized as the best standard.
  • The most popular cultivar of Saintpaulia Eugene among Americans is Amur Elite. In almost every AVSA exhibition, you can find 4-5 outlets of this violet grown by different collectors. Photos of this violet were even published several times in the African Violet Magazine.

It is worth noting that absolutely at every AVSA exhibition, American amateurs grow Russian varietiesthat they really like. Moreover, many of them sincerely believe that this is precisely the violets of Eugene. Perhaps this phenomenon can be explained by the fact that the name of the breeder is not given on the labels at AVSA exhibitions, and our breeder is often the only Russian there.

Eugene has to dissuade the American violet breeders, explain that he is not engaged in breeding, while telling them that in Russia and Ukraine there are more than twenty breeders who annually produce dozens of great new varieties that they demonstrate at our shows at Violets House.

By themselves, violets have a truly masculine character. Unlike other violets, the varieties bred by Eugene are less whimsical than other varieties of violets. Among other things all violets Eugene have:

  1. individual and unique color;
  2. unique fantasy;
  3. as well as a three-four-color color palette.

It is because of these features that the breeder's violets can be recognized by the first flower that has blossomed.

Speaking about the breeder himself, I would like to add that Yevgeny Arkhipov in the "Violets House" has a permanent place on one of the shelves where he presents his new products and the best varieties. It also sells leaf cuttings, rooted by the breeder himself.

In conclusion, it is worth saying that all of the listed violets are a complete reflection of Evgeny Arkhipov. Strong stems, less whimsicality relative to other varieties of violets, as well as an unusual palette of colors, surprising even the most experienced breeder colleagues. The price of violets is also very diverse. For lovers of violets, the main joy is the opportunity to purchase leaves grown by Eugene himself in the aforementioned “Violets House”.
