How to cook meatballs with gravy in a pan and in the oven

Childhood leaves a lot of culinary memories. Sometimes you really want to enjoy the taste of the dishes that we were regularly treated to by mothers or cooks working in kindergartens and schools. That's why I decided to cook meatballs with gravy at home.

For cooking use various types of minced meat. In the article I will tell a recipe from childhood, along with several other versions of this edible work.

Meatballs - an independent dish that does not need a side dish. However, it is usually served at the table with vegetables or rice. It is impossible to imagine a dish without gravy, which adds fantastic juiciness.

The recipe as in kindergarten

  • Boil rice cereal until half cooked. Peel and chop the onion, add to the minced meat, salt and carefully mix until a homogeneous mass is formed. Egg and rice are added to the minced meat and after stirring the meatballs are formed.
  • Roll the resulting balls in flour and fry on all sides in oil. This usually takes about a quarter of an hour. To preserve the original structure, turn as carefully as possible.
  • After frying, put in a small saucepan, add water so that it half covers them, salt and simmer until tender.
  • Fry the flour in a separate frying pan, add tomato paste with sour cream, pour in water and mix. Pour meatballs with the resulting sauce and simmer for about ten minutes. That's all.

I recommend meatballs to the table along with stewed vegetables. However, any side dish is suitable for them, for example, pancakes, delicious pasta or julienne.

Minced meatballs with rice

According to the cooking technology and the list of products used, meatballs resemble cutlets with the addition of boiled rice.

  • Minced chicken - 800 g.
  • Rice groats - 1 cup.
  • Onion - 2 heads.
  • Egg - 1 pc.
  • Bullseye - 1 pc.
  • Pepper, salt.
For gravy:
  • Bouillon - 1 liter.
  • Carrot - 2 pcs.
  • Beam - 2 pcs.
  • Fresh cream - 200 ml.
  • Flour - 1 tbsp. l
  • Tomato paste - 3 tbsp. l
  1. Combine boiled rice, beaten egg, grated apple, minced meat and chopped onion. Salt the resulting mass, lightly sprinkle with flour and mix thoroughly. Start forming meatballs. To not fall apart, roll in flour.
  2. Gravy. Put chopped onion in a pan with heated oil and lightly fry. Pour the grated carrots and darken for two to three minutes.
  3. Pour flour into a skillet, pour cream with tomato paste and mix. At the end, pour a little water into the sauce. After boiling, adjust the taste with salt and pepper.
  4. Put the formed meatballs in a cast iron, add gravy and put to simmer on a minimum fire. After about half an hour they will be cooked.

How to cook meatballs in the oven

Stuffing is a universal semi-finished product from which various treats are prepared: meatballs, meat and fish cakes, meatballs. Use it as a filling for pancakes, pies, pasties.

Each culinary specialist knows that oven-baked dishes are more healthy, since this technology requires less oil and preserves nutrients.

  • Ground beef - 1 kg.
  • Rice groats - 300 g.
  • Carrot - 1 pc.
  • Beam - 1 head.
  • Eggs - 3 pcs.
  • Garlic - 2 cloves.
  • Pepper, spices, salt.
For gravy:
  • Water - 2 glasses.
  • Carrot - 1 pc.
  • Beam - 1 head.
  • Tomato paste - 2 tbsp. l
  • Flour - 2 tbsp. l
  • Garlic - 1 clove.
  • Salt, spices, sugar.
  1. Boil rice. Fry chopped onions with grated carrots. Introduce the eggs into the minced meat, mix, add the fried vegetables with rice, grated garlic, favorite spices and a pinch of salt. Mix.
  2. From the resulting mixture, make meatballs, bathe in flour and put in tight rows on a pre-greased form. To prevent the mass from sticking to your hands, periodically moisten them in clean water.
  3. The turn of gravy. Fry chopped onion with grated carrot in a pan. Enter the flour, otherwise the dressing will turn out watery. Pour water into the pan simultaneously with tomato paste. Thoroughly mix everything, and after a couple of minutes add a little sugar, favorite spices and salt.
  4. Pour the meat balls with the resulting gravy. The sauce should cover them almost to the top. Put the mold in a heated oven and cook for about an hour at 200 degrees.

After an hour, get it, wait a bit until it cools down, put it on a plate, decorate with herbs and put on the table with vegetables or salad.

Classic meatballs in a pan

Want to cook something new for lunch or dinner? Pay attention to meatballs with gravy - a full-fledged dish of rice, fresh meat and vegetables. If desired, you can garnish with buckwheat porridge, pasta or vegetable salad.

  • Stuffing - 400 g.
  • Egg - 1 pc.
  • Cottage cheese - 100 g.
  • Onion - 3 heads.
  • Long loaf - 3 pieces.
  • Garlic - 4 cloves.
  • Tomatoes - 3 pcs.
  • Carrot - 1 pc.
  • Sweet pepper - 2 pcs.
  • Milk - 2 tbsp. l
  • Tomato paste - 4 tbsp. l
  • Broth - 300 ml.
  • Greens - 100 g.
  • Mustard - 1 tsp.
  • Starch - 1 tbsp. l
  • Sugar - 1 tbsp. l
  • Salt, spices.
  1. Grind one onion and a couple of garlic cloves, and soak slices of loaf in water. Send the ingredients to the minced meat and mix. Pre-squeeze the baton.
  2. Drive an egg here, add cottage cheese, half chopped greens, milk. After the next mixing, the taste is corrected with salt and spices. Rosemary, cilantro and pepper are great.
  3. To form lumps or balls of moderate size from the meat composition. Each bathe in flour and fry until a golden hue.
  4. Sauce. Finely chop the vegetables and fry. First, send onions with carrots to the pan, a little later tomatoes and peppers and then simmer for two minutes. Pour sugar, tomato paste and a little salt. Hold on fire for another 3 minutes.
  5. Dilute a spoonful of starch with water and send to vegetables along with the broth, remaining herbs and garlic. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes at minimum heat.
  6. During the final stage, carefully lower the meatballs. Put out at least a quarter of an hour under the lid. That's all.

Cooking method in a slow cooker

Meatballs cooked in a slow cooker with gravy are incredibly mouth-watering.

  • Stuffing - 500 g.
  • Rice groats - 0.5 cups.
  • Beam - 1 pc.
  • Egg - 1 pc.
  • Pepper, salt.
For gravy:
  • Tomatoes - 2 pcs.
  • Flour - 2 tbsp. l
  • Sour cream - 50 ml.
  • Salt.
  1. Chop the peeled onion thoroughly, carefully sort the rice and rinse with water. Add the ingredients to the meat mass with the egg and mix. From the mixture, with adjusted salt and pepper taste, make neat balls.
  2. Dip the tomatoes in boiling water, remove the skin and knead in a smoothie. In 0.25 liters of water, dilute the flour, add sour cream and tomato gruel. The result is a sauce.
  3. Put meatballs in the capacity of the multicooker and pour gravy. Turn on the appliance, activate the extinguishing mode and set the timer for an hour. When the program ends, the dish is ready.
